This popular bike, with its internal seat belts (but no seats), was considered safer than ones with handlebar-mounted infant seats (!). The Dutch rarely wear helmets or use safety gear. Perhaps that’s the price we have to pay to make the bicycle ubiquitous--as it certainly is in Holland.
