Michael Berkeley (lmberkeley@yahoo.com) turned up on his BionX electric assist bicycle on one of my Ashland rides. He was kind enough to let me try the bike, which was a total kick in the butt to ride. One hundred feet into my ride I swallowed a sarcastic take on the electric motor. I had pedaled the whole time; I just had some help.
We've heard about the importance of "moderation in all things" from Buddhists and from Aristotle. Michael heard it from his heart Dr. after open heart surgery.
Now, with an electric assisted bike, he rides much more than ever before--and "enjoys every minute of it." By the way, he's "feeling great these days" and he attributes it to his frequent cycling.
Note the direct drive is inside, not against, the rear wheel.
Addendum: Europe embraces the electric bike.
The article and pictures included in the blog looks so cool. In my view also cycling is a good one. The electric- assist bicycles are also good because it gives less pollution to the atmosphere.
