
Back in October ((above) I caught up with these guys when they were in San Francisco. A few days before that they showed up unannounced in the middle of Eureka's Arts Alive festival, and merged with the art lovers. If there'd been a way to take my bike on a Junk I might have been tempted to join them.
That was then, as they say. I can think of a million things that could have gone wrong with an rudderless thousand year old Junk in the open ocean, but crossing the entire Pacific again only to be run down by a freighter 30 mies from Taiwan wouldn't have been one of them. Happily, everyone is OK. But the lovely Junk is part of maritime history. Here's the whole story.
