If you build it, they will come

The local cycling community here in Humboldt County is in its fifteenth year of trying to turn an abandoned five mile railroad bed between Eureka and Arcata into a bike path (see map on right. Cyclists traveling from Arcata to Eureka end up on the side of a a Freeway. The abandoned railroad tracks are a few feet away)

"But nobody would use it," say the "traditionalists."
